May 31st also saw the premiere of my setting of George Herbert’s wonderful poem – The Church Floore. This was commissioned by Vox Coelestis, conducted by Nigel Short, to mark its 20th Anniversary; and to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the completion of the Tower of St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church in the beautiful town of Lavenham, Suffolk, where it was performed.

I dedicated the piece to the composer John Casken, who introduced me to the text and through his own setting, inspired the composition. Click on Choral Works for the score and mp3.
